This Student & Minor Data Policy (“Policy”) describes how Assessment.com handles personal data belonging to students and minors when the Assessment.com platform is used by schools, educational institutions, youth programs, or other organizations that administer assessments to individuals under the age of 18.

This Policy forms part of the Assessment.com Master Platform Agreement, Privacy Policy, and Data Processing Addendum.

  1. Purpose of This Policy

Assessment.com provides tools that may be used by:

  • K-12 schools
    • colleges and universities
    • educational counselors
    • youth programs
    • career guidance programs

This Policy describes how Assessment.com processes personal information belonging to students and minors when assessments are administered through the platform.

  1. Role of Educational Institutions

When schools or educational organizations use the platform to administer assessments:

  • the school or organization acts as the Data Controller
    Assessment.com acts as a service provider and data processor

The educational institution determines:

  • which assessments are administered
    • what information is collected
    • how assessment results are used
    • how long student data is retained

Assessment.com processes student data solely to provide the services requested by the institution.

  1. Types of Student Information Collected

Depending on how the platform is used, student information may include:

  • student name
    • email address or login credentials
    • demographic information
    • assessment responses
    • survey responses
    • educational or career interests
    • generated assessment results and reports

The specific information collected is determined by the institution administering the assessment.

  1. Parental Consent and School Authorization

For users under the age of 13, Assessment.com relies on schools or authorized educational organizations to provide consent for the collection and processing of student data as permitted under applicable law.

Educational institutions represent and warrant that they have obtained appropriate parental consent where required.

Parents or guardians should direct questions regarding student participation in assessments to the school or organization administering the assessment.

  1. Use of Student Data

Student data collected through the platform may be used to:

  • administer assessments
    • generate reports and feedback
    • support educational or career guidance
    • allow institutions to evaluate programs or outcomes

Assessment.com does not use student personal data for advertising or marketing purposes.

  1. Sharing of Student Data

Student data may be shared with:

  • the school or organization administering the assessment
    • authorized administrators or educators within that organization

Assessment.com does not sell or disclose identifiable student data to third parties for commercial purposes.

However, Assessment.com may use anonymized or aggregated data that cannot identify individual students to:

  • improve platform functionality
    • refine assessment scoring models
    • conduct research and analytics
    • train artificial intelligence systems

Such anonymized data does not identify individual students.

  1. Data Security

Assessment.com implements commercially reasonable security measures to protect student data, including:

  • encrypted data transmission
    • controlled access systems
    • monitoring for unauthorized access

While reasonable safeguards are implemented, no system can guarantee absolute security.

    • request deletion of data

should contact the school or organization administering the assessment.

Assessment.com will assist educational institutions in responding to such requests where appropriate.

  1. Compliance with Student Privacy Laws

Assessment.com is designed to support compliance with applicable student data privacy laws including:

  • FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act) in the United States
    • COPPA (Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act) where applicable
    • applicable state student data privacy laws

Educational institutions remain responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable laws governing their use of the platform.

  1. International Student Data

Educational institutions outside the United States may use the platform.

Student data may be processed in the United States or other jurisdictions where Assessment.com or its service providers operate.

Institutions are responsible for ensuring that any required international data transfer safeguards are in place.

  1. Updates to This Policy

Assessment.com may update this Student & Minor Data Policy periodically.

Updates will be posted on the platform.

Continued use of the platform constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
