Taking the Tests
Q: How long will it take to complete a test?
A: Each test is a little different. When you click to take a test you will be able to read what it is and how long the test will take. Some tests are timed and others are not but you will know up front if it is a timed test.
Q: Will my work be saved if I get interrupted when taking a test?
A: Yes and No. To take or finish a test just come back to your Assessment.com Member Center, or www.Assessment.com, at any time and log in with your e-mail and password. Once you are logged in, click on the test you want to take or finish.
If it is the MAPP assessment your work will be saved and our system will recognize you and let you start answering questions where you left off. All other tests are much shorter and you will be asked to begin with question #1.
If a test is timed you will want to be sure and take it when you can complete it from start to finish. In the timed tests your results are reflective of the time it takes you to answer all questions. You will be alerted of this before you begin.
Q: Are there other language options besides English?
A: Currently the MAPP assessment is the only test that is offered in languages other than English. All other tests are in English only.
Q: My roommate and I share an email address. Can we both take a test using our email?
A: Yes. The email address may be used multiple times as long as a different password is used for each user. You will need your email and unique password to log in and view your results or to take additional tests.
Q: Can I retake a test, or go back and change my answers?
A: No. Once you hit the finish button your results are processed and you will see your report immediately on your screen. You can only change answers before you answer the last question and hit the finish button.

The Detailed I.Q. Test
Q: How is it Scored?
A: Although there are only 32 questions on the test, we utilize collected data to the fullest, which gives us quality akin to that of a professional, hour-long exam. A cross-referenced answer scheme, a scaling point system and time weighing all contribute to your final, general intelligence score.
Q: How long does it take?
A: The average time to complete the test is 12 minutes for 32 problems, which means you should try to spend no more than 22 seconds per problem. This test is designed with speed in mind, and every extra minute you spend could cost you more points than a correct answer is worth.
Q: What does my score mean? How does this IQ test relate to other intelligence tests?
A: Your score is designed to follow the natural bell curve seen in most IQ tests. Therefore, half of all test-takers should find their scores to be within the 80-120 range, which is an average intelligence. 121-150 is above average, and any person scoring above 150 is considered to possess a genius-level intelligence. Our IQ Test is not designed to directly mimic the Binet or other intelligence tests, but instead to accurately plot your intelligence within the natural distribution of test-takers.
Q: I took this test randomly and scored higher than my original score! Your test must not be accurate?
A: Our test is designed to be taken truthfully and honestly. If those criteria are met, we believe a person's IQ and specific intelligences can be rated and useful information about one's self may be revealed.
The possibility of blindly selecting answers reveals a weakness in the nature of online testing. It says nothing about the effectiveness of our test, however. We utilize many different factors to create a score, one of them is the time it takes a person to complete the test. If you simply click "True" or "False" without regard to the question, your score will receive a bonus for a quick exam. Also, since the test is a True/False test, you should get near 50% correct by simply guessing.
Honestly taking the test may reveal a lower score than random guessing, but this does not mean the user is less intelligent than random guesses--many of the questions are designed to mislead the test-taker, and the quick test time will only further skew true results.
Q: I had relatively high scores in most or all of my individual intelligences, yet my overall score was low. How come?
A: Remember, the overall test is timed, and the overall score is a function of the amount of time it takes you to complete the test. The 12 distinct intelligence scores are not timed individually, so the comparison to others is made on an absolute level, without regard to the time it takes to complete the test.
Therefore, a low overall score can result when one or two of your individual scores is low, or when the time to complete the test is high.
